There are two categories of membership in ACERT:

  1. Full Membership
  2. Associate Membership

Full Membership:

Full membership in ACERT is limited to operational emergency response teams on post-secondary campuses.

Operational emergency response teams must meet the following criteria:

  1. Have a minimum standard of care of Standard First Aid or its recognized equivalent and Basic Rescuer Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation/Basic Cardiac Life Support (Level C). NLS and/or AEC do not constitute as equivalents for the minimum standard of care.
  2. Be recognized by a department of the university or college such as the administration, health services, security, student union, student council or occupational health and safety.
  3. Have established written operating guidelines and/or policies and procedures.

The annual fee for full membership is $100. We also offer a five year membership for the price of four years at $400.

Full members have full voting status and may vote in all meetings of members. Each full member teams will appoint one delegate to represent the team in all meetings of the members.

Associate Membership

Associate membership in ACERT is open to:

  • non-operational emergency response teams
  • teams in the process of forming
  • teams that do not meet the criteria for a full member of ACERT
  • secondary school (high school) level teams

The annual fee for associate membership is $30.

Associate members are of a non-voting class and cannot vote in meetings of members.

Please note: Teams that meet the criteria for a full member cannot apply to be an associate member. If your team wishes to apply but cannot afford the membership fee, please contact the Vice President Finance.
