We’re so excited to hear that! Our members fall into two categories – read below to see if you qualify for either!
Full Membership
Criteria
Full Membership with ACERT is limited to operational emergency first response teams or groups on recognized Canadian post-secondary campuses that meet the following criteria:
- Have a minimum standard of care of Standard First Aid (or its recognized equivalent) AND CPR – Basic Life Support with AED.
- Be formally recognized by a department or service of their post-secondary campus, such as administration, health services, safety-security, student union, or emergency planning/operations.
- Have established and approved written guidelines and/or policies and procedures.
Benefits
There are a host of benefits to Full Membership with ACERT:
- Attending and hosting conferences
- Voting privileges at meetings of members that have an impact on national campus response policies
- Benefits with vendors such as Hard and Fast CPR
- Access to a communication network with other member teams
- Help and support with team startup and expansion
- Use of ACERT resources, such as emergency response standards and guidelines
- Use of ACERT executives for mediation and support in disputes and disagreements
- Subscription to our quarterly newsletter, Rumours (coming soon!)
Price of Membership
Full Members pay annual dues of $100 CAD. These fees go towards maintaining and growing ACERT’s archive of resources, website management, organizational fees, and assists host teams with NCCER finances. If your team cannot afford the membership fee but is still interested in joining ACERT, please contact us at info@acert.ca to discuss your options.
Associate Membership
Criteria
Associate Membership with ACERT is designed for teams who fall into any of the following categories:
- Non-operational emergency response teams
- Teams in the process of forming
- Teams that do not otherwise meet the criteria for Full Membership
- Secondary school (high school) level teams
Associate Membership is also recommended for newly formed teams who meet full membership criteria but are new to ACERT in order to experience the benefits of membership. After a trial period of one (1) year, these teams will be asked to upgrade to Full Membership.

Note: Associate Members are of a non-voting class and cannot vote in meetings of members. Associate Members cannot host conferences, or access benefits or services at a discount.
Price of Membership
Associate Members pay annual dues of $30 CAD. These fees go towards maintaining and growing ACERT’s archive of resources, website management, organizational fees, and assists host teams with NCCER finances.
